Creating Community Channels Chat / Moderator permissions

Feature RequestCool IdeaFix Later

I have been seeing a few people asking for community channels that dont really fit any of the already existing ones. And group chats arent really a solution because they arent accessible and there are limited slots.
So i had an idea for a solution.

New tab up here:

Keep all the original community channels in the “Featured Channels” tab. And have another tab with channels that other kids make. New kids will open to the featured channels so they arent overwhelmed, but once they want to find others with the same interests they can look in at other tab.

Having two tabs might be overwhelming itself though.
Another probably better spot could be below the challenge channels here (why are these here anyways?):

Im sure it wouldnt be possible to have it be a request system. So to make people think before making a channel it could cost coins, since there are more ways to get them now. Costing an amount like 500-1000 coins will prevent tons of “pointless” or unused channels. Maybe you could earn some coins from people joining and chatting too.

List of channels already requested (that i can find)

- General Gaming
- Electronics
- Trains
- Grounded 2
- Risk of Rain 2
Then one that id like
- Rhythm Games

Just a random thought i had. Very likely not possible or already considered but i wanted to suggest it anyways

From the feedback group We like this idea a lot:

    • would require 2000 coins to start a channel.

      • Creating a channel would auto post to feed (with a customs message from the creator)

    • If the channel is not used for 7 days the owner gets a notification, if it is not used for 3 more days then it is removed

    • Features needed on

      https://recess.gg/community-channels

      • Slider of new/featured channels

      • Search bar for channel names

      • Failsafe to avoid duplicate community channels (cannot publish or create if similar channel exists)

also if someone deletes a chat or if a chat gets deleted there is a notifaction stating why the channel is being deleted “spam” “violent” “not being used” ETC

i chat per person? and maybe make it 1500 coins so it’s way easier to moderate and if a channel isn’t being used at all maybe it self destructs and gives your 1500 coins back

I do want to dig into this but its difficult due to moderation concerns and I have some other things that are higher prio at the moment. But it is definitely on the list
